Department of Mathematics and Statistics, College of Arts & Sciences, Mississippi State University invites applications for a tenure-track 9-month appointment with opportunity for summer employment in statistics. The applicant must have a doctoral degree in applied statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field, a commitment to effective graduate and undergraduate teaching, together with demonstrated success in applied research and statistical consulting. ABDs will not be considered. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers a B.S. degree in Mathematics, an M.S. degree in Statistics, and a Ph.D. degree in Mathematical Sciences. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with researchers in the Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine (DAFVM), being involved in interdisciplinary research and consulting in applied areas such as agricultural sciences, biological sciences, engineering, forestry and veterinary sciences. Position duties include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate level courses, developing a substantial research program in one or more areas of statistics, providing direction and effective leadership for M.S. and PhD students, and engaging in departmental, university, and scientific community service functions. Salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
