Title:
Method of Quasi-Reversibility for a Heat Transfer Problem
Abstract:
This is an example of the method of Quasi-Reversibility
for a one-dimensional heat transfer problem.
The forward problem is solved using the Crank-Nicolson method. The results
then form the `data' for
the quasi-reversibility method. A perturbation term is added to the original
heat equation and a change of
variables results in a damped wave equation. This wave equation is then
solved by a finite difference method.
The recovered heat flux is then compared to the heat flux used in the
forward problem.
