Adhikari Department of Sciences and Mathematics Mississippi University for Women Time and Place: Wednesday, April 23 at 3:30 pm, Allen 411 Title: "Topological Degree Theories and Applications" Abstract: First, a brief introduction to the development of various topological degree theories and their generalizations will be presented. Then as an application of the Browder and Skrypnik degrees, results concerning the existence of nonzero solutions of operator equations of the form Tx + Cx = 0 in re°exive Banach spaces will be given. Finally, if time permits, a construction of a new degree theory that generalizes the Berkovits-Mustonen degree theory will be described. The construction is joint work with A. G. Kartsatos.
